Let’s put those finger cymbals to work!

In this lesson, we’ll listen to a portion of the final movement of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4 in F Minor. During these last few measures the cymbals go CRAZY crashing 115 times in 60 seconds!

Here are some words that may be helpful for you to know:

  • Measure-A measure (or bar) is a group of notes divided by vertical lines. In this excerpt there are 38 measures of music.

  • Rest-A rest is a beat of silence. We’ll see several types of rests in this piece of music.

    • Eight Rest-Half a beat of silence

    • Quarter Rest-One beat of silence

    • Half Rest-Two beats of silence

    • Whole Rest-Four Beats of silence
