DIY Snow

Here in central Texas we don’t get much snow. Our winters are mild at best; you’re more likely to have a sunny, yellow Christmas than a white one. So, we like to take matters into our own hands and create our own wintery wonderland!

Materials:

  • Baking Soda

  • Shaving Cream

  • Popsicle stick

  • Bowl

  • Water

Directions:

  • Mix equal parts baking soda and shaving cream into a bowl. The more you use, the more snow you will make!

  • Stir with a popsicle stick…or your hands!

  • Add a little bit of water. More water creates a wetter snow. Less water will create more powdery snow.

  • OPTIONAL-Add a small amount of glitter.

Can you shape your snow into a ball? A snowman?

Try This!

Pour some of your snow onto a flat surface. Use a rolling pin to smooth out your snow. Grab a small toy with feet (doll, plastic animal, etc.) and press it lightly into the snow. Does it make an imprint? Make prints with several different shaped toys and let a family member or friend try to guess which toy goes with which imprint!

❄️Want to keep your snow? You can place it in a sealed container or ziplock bag at room temperature…and it won’t melt! Now that’s probably the best thing about DIY snow!❄️
