Kaleidoscope Fun

A Hands-On Way to See
How a Kaleidoscope Works!

Materials:

  • Two mirrors, preferably with straight edges so they can be joined

  • Tape

  • Two or three small objects

Procedure:

  • Use the tape to join your two mirrors at the edges.

  • Place one small object in front of the mirrors where they are joined together.

  • Slowly decrease the angle of the mirrors noting how many images of the object you see at 120 degrees, 90 degrees, and 45 degrees.

  • Repeat the process with two and then three objects.
