Drum rudiments are basic patterns that help drummers (beginning and experience) improve their speed, control, coordination and timing. They are an extremely important part of learning to be a skilled drummer. There are 40 different rudiments recognized by the Percussive Arts Society, ranging from singles and doubles to paradiddles and flam accents.
