Elephant on Canvas
Let’s turn your little one’s handprint into an elephant!
This is a project that I did with my boys when they were little and as soon as I decided Ellison the Elephant by Eric Drachman was going into the Music Library rotation, I knew this would be the perfect time to do this activity with my little lady!
The result is super cute and makes a unique keepsake.
First, you’ll want to paint a background onto the canvas. Blue sky, desert, jungle-the choice is yours. Just make sure the paint dries completely before moving on to the next step.
Next, decide what color you want your elephant to be...and paint the palm of your hand that color. Make sure you cover it really well!
Place your hand on the canvas UPSIDE DOWN! Your fingers will be the elephant legs, your thumb the trunk. Press down firmly to be sure your entire print transfers to the canvas.
Wash your hands!
Use paint or a pen to add details like eyes, toenails and a tail!
Does our elephant live in the ocean? A jungle? One can never know with 5 year-olds!
